How Restaurants Can Use Outdoor Heating for Rapid Revenues During Reopening

Posted by Eric Kahn on Jun 2nd 2020

Recently, the National Restaurant Association’s ServSafe team released guidance to help restaurants restart when the nation begins reopening its businesses. For restaurateurs, this is great news because, even with self-distancing guidelines, outdoor spaces can create attractive opportunities for increasing revenues while you are reopening your business. Open-air environments are known to be safer in general, and outside, you will very likely have more flexibility than you do within your walls.

At Alfresco Heating, we're here to help you optimize your business for the new restaurant environment when you reopen. We can get you going quickly with portable propane patio heaters or if you’re considering a long term investment in your outdoor spaces, we can serve you with permanent patio heaters running on natural gas, or electricity.

Portable Propane for A Bridge… or a Permanent Solution

For a rapid response to the “opening bell,” we recommend portable patio heaters. Even with assembly, each portable patio heater can be ready to warm your customers in about an hour. If you will install permanent heaters later then Patio Comfort PC02 or SunStar PH portables provide medium-duty quality backed with Alfresco Heating support and parts. While budget-friendly, these heaters are a step above big box store heaters both in quality and durability. These are good bridge heaters for two or more years until your permanent installation is in place, or if you are seating temporarily on a closed street.

However, if you are looking for a long-term investment in portable patio heaters that will take the wear and tear, use and abuse of restaurant environments, the standard remains the SunGlo A270, the only American made portable patio heater. One good reason to invest in portable patio heaters is if the customer seating area is wide open and not accessible by natural gas lines.

Looking Long-Term: Permanent Installations

A permanent installation of patio-heaters is the best long-term investment. Permanent outdoor heaters save floor space, provide heat with the flick of a switch, are generally more reliable. Natural gas heaters also have a much lower fuel cost than propane. At Alfresco Heating, we have a full range of high-quality permanent gas outdoor heaters and permanent electric patio heaters
